PubCon Day 3 – Content Creation, Topics, and Search

Day 3 of Pubcon started out a little slow for me due to Day 2’s night out with friends. The morning sessions where missed but had the chance to grab three great panels.

– Real World Winning Tactics for Content Creation
– Search Bloggers: What’s Hot and Trending?
– Super Session : Search Engines and Webmasters – aka: The Search Engine Smackdown

On Day 3, it was my intent to lead off of Day 2’s question to Rand and concentrate on good quality content. The Content Creation panel shared a lot of valuable information and some good takeaways that I applied to real estate topics are:

Day 2 PubCon recap and Mind Dump

Sitting here with loads on my mind, it is only pertinent that I have a icy cold adult beverage and stream KISW while working out today’s Scooby Snacks of information. Today’s agenda covered a lot of different topics and the panels where unbelievable so here is the short list and then onto more detail (panel list is in order of attendance).

– How do Social Media & Search Intersect?
– Understanding The Complex Social Marketing Playing Field
– SEO Design & Organic Site Structure
– Mega Site SEO

The first session started off with a text from Max while did today’s earlier blog – “dude slow down – you’ll break the keyboard :) ”. After looking around for him and laughing a bit it was time to start rolling. The first panel discussed how search and social media have many cross sections. The one item I really pulled out is using social media can help build search results buy creating awareness and hopefully many backlinks. This is something I have really struggle with and haven’t done very well – mostly my content in the social media realm isn’t worth sharing. But I will keep trying to get something to pop.

PubCon Day 1 Recap & What Has Me Thinking

Yesterday was my very first day attending PubCon and to say the least – I was impressed. The talent that conducting the panels and speaking at the keynote was second to none, well expect for one gal – she was out of her league.

The day started out with a morning Keynote with Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh. He spoke on company culture and how focusing on improving the work place environment and finding people with similar core values can positively effect a company’s overall consumer experience. It was an insightful look at how culture can and will to continue be a very important part of successful company’s business models.

Taking Off To PubCon 2009

In a few hours I will be on my flight headed to the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas. This isn’t the typical Vegas bachelor party debackle. This trip has a business focus and it will my first trip to PubCon – Search Marketing Conference. My day job is in the real estate sector as a office manager and active agent. The company I manage relies heavily on search rankings and blogging to deliver the company’s marketing message.

Missing a large advertising budget or the man power to spread our message, it fell upon me to figure it out. The more time I spent online searching for marketing products the more I kept coming across forums. Forum members discussed the number of leads they where generating out of their websites using SEO techniques. SEO? What’s that?
