Everett Expressions set to compete at Nationals
Starting this weekend the National Figure Skating Championships are taken place at Peoria, Illinois. Practices have been going all week and starting on the August 3rd, Washington residents can cheer for a local hopefully, Kylee Berger. Kylee is a member of the Everett Expressions team coached by Anna Carrier.
Knowing these two ladies has been a great privilege and to watch them skate is something else. I tried to skate with them once; didn’t go so well for me. I probably better stick to skiing. Since meeting Anna and Kylee, I have come to enjoy a sport in which, and to be quite honest, I never thought I would.
I learned a lot from watching practices and seeing how much it hurts to hit the deck. Ouch! and I thought dropping down on an ice patch was painful. Day in and day out, the team members of the Everett Expressions work hard to make it to Nationals. Besides all the glory of being able to participate in such an event there is so much behind the scenes that many don’t see. It is the practicing, the coach yelling (that ones for you Anna…lol), the fundraising, and all the support from family and friends.
The National Figure Skating Championships is providing a live feed at their website, http://www.usarollersports.org/event/event/543, along with skater schedules, news, and more. Even if you can’t make it to Illinois you can still watch Kylee and her teammates compete via the internet. Here is a brief overview of the schedules.
